I would suggest learning how to fix a flat (or riding with someone who does) as a precursor to riding outside. The learning curve when transitioning from spinning to riding outdoors is steep. Ask questions and be willing to take time to learn about your bike. There’s nothing worse than watching someone walk their bike home because they didn’t take the time to learn to fix a flat.
Follow me on Strava to see some of the routes I typically ride. I confess, I mostly train and ride solo. I find it meditative. But as my Strava heatmap shows, I’ve covered a decent amount of the DMV on two wheels.
Reach out if you have questions! And remember to keep the rubber side down!
